How common is long covid?

97 votes

There are a lot of people on the internet talking about long covid, and anecdotally it seems like everyone I talk to has symptoms that take forever to go away. Is it really that common or am I in a bubble?

Top answer

The NIHR has several estimates, anywhere from 40-87% of covid patients report reduced quality of life 60 days after testing positive.

The CDC reports that 19% of people who get COVID have long-term symptoms (which means 7.5% of all Americans currently have long-term symptoms!).
